Funding Fable’s Future: Announcing our $4.4M Seed Round
Dec 3, 2020
Fable is the web-based motion design platform helping teams animate better together by making motion more intuitive and collaborative.
Motion is everywhere: From a brand’s GIF on Instagram to product explainer videos, to title sequences on YouTube and everything in between, but motion software hasn’t meaningfully evolved in over 25 years, making it intimidating, inaccessible, and inefficient for today’s workforce. At Fable, we’re building a platform that unlocks the power of motion for the entire creator economy by making it easier for beginners to get started, more efficient for pros, and highly collaborative for teams.
It’s a big vision, and we have bold plans for the future; that’s why today we’re excited to announce our seed round, led by Collaborative Fund with participation from Chad Hurley (Co-Founder and former CEO, YouTube), Harrison Metal, Third Kind Venture Capital, Flybridge Capital, and Sumeet Gajri (Original Capital), with continued support from SIP Global Partners.
We feel fortunate and excited to work with such an incredible array of partners, and we wanted to share a little about what it means for the future…
Since we announced our beta in July, the response to what we’re building has truly blown us away, proving that for designers and non-designers alike, current motion software has huge pain points that Fable solves:
It’s not collaborative: Desktop motion software makes it super hard to share work, manage assets, and get feedback.
It’s inefficient: Workflows can demand high-spec hardware, external storage, a suite of plugins, and often a whole suite of apps.
It’s not easy: Leading software is over 25 years old and designed for pros, making it difficult to learn and master.
Fable is the motion platform for today’s creator economy and modern workforce: It’s highly collaborative with team workspaces, simple sharing, and inline commenting. It’s designed for efficiency with project history, media management, and offline exports. And it’s easier to master with no software to install, rich templates, and expressive effects within reach.
With the rise of browser-based apps like Figma and Webflow changing the way we create and collaborate, we believe web-based software is here to stay, and motion is the big missing piece that will define the future of work.
What’s next for Fable
Looking ahead and heading into 2021, we can’t wait to show more people what we’ve been building, and we are releasing new invites every week, so sign up for the waitlist to secure a spot!
If you’re part of a team and would be interested in a demo, reach out, and we’d be happy to show you around and onboard your team: sales@fable.app.
We’re also hiring! We’re looking for talented individuals who can help across a range of ownership areas: We are a remote-first, fully distributed team with New York headquarters hiring across engineering, design, and community building. Check out our open positions and forward to people you think would be incredible.
