Learn how to use controllers in Fable
Why use controllers?
Controllers can be used to modify the position, scale, and rotation of linked layers. Think of them as "Null Layers" or "Null Objects" in other software. This is useful for animating layers from a designated point other than their center or simultaneously transforming multiple layers.
Adding controllers
Click the controller icon in the top-center Toolbar; a controller will appear in your Layer List. The red icons that appear are invisible layers with various uses.
Controllers are only useful when linked and applied to other layers.
Linking controllers to other layers
Create a controller
Create or select layers in your timeline that you’d like to link to the controller.
On the Layer List, drag the layer linking dot of the layer(s) to the controller.
Now, your layers are linked to the controller! Any transform (position, rotation, scale, skew) that you make on the controller will be applied to all the linked layers.
Transformation origin
Fable defaults to using a center origin. Use controllers or move the Transform Origin to set a point other than the layer's center for transformations. Create more complex motion rigs with controllers and position the controller where you want transformations originating before linking layers.
