Animating along a path
Animating along a path
Learn how to animate objects along a path using Position Paths.
Position Paths
A Position Path is a canvas visualization that shows the path a layer follows between two position keyframes. It's not visible in the final export, but it helps you understand the layer's movement over time. Key features of position paths include:
Endpoints are diamond-shaped and represent positions you've explicitly keyframed on the position property.
Frame points indicate the position of the layer on the frames between the two keyframes. They help visualize the keyframe interpolation between positions keyframes. Closer dots mean slower movement and spaced dots mean faster.
Position Points
Position Points enable you to manipulate the shape of the path your layer moves in without affecting the timing of the animation. Position points are not displayed on the timeline because they do not affect timing.
If you'd like to adjust Position points, you need to make edits in Position Path Edit Mode.
Position Path Edit Mode
Position Path Edit Mode is a special editor state for full control over paths and points. To activate it, you can:
Click the bezier icon to the right of the X/Y transform panel.
Click
Option
+Enter
To edit a position path, you can add/delete points and adjust curves. Only layers with existing position keyframes have an editable path.
